After proposing that xAI will build an AI satellite factory on the Moon, Elon Musk also stated that Tesla factories will appear on the Moon within 20 years.

On February 27, Tesla’s official account posted a video of Tesla CEO Elon Musk having a conversation with André Thierig, head of the Berlin Gigafactory.

In the video, Musk mentioned, “Within 20 years, Tesla will build a factory on the Moon.” After Thierig responded with laughter, Musk added, “It’s true.” He said that whether looking ten or twenty years ahead, Tesla’s prospects will be very bright.

Musk also suggested that investors hold Tesla stock long-term because the company “will be very valuable in the future.”

It should be noted that Musk’s statement was made while discussing the company’s long-term vision and did not describe specific implementation plans, more of a strategic outlook.

In recent years, Musk has not only continued to focus on the Mars landing plan but also turned his attention to the Moon.

A few weeks ago, Musk stated at an all-hands meeting of his AI company xAI that the company needs to build factories on the Moon to produce AI satellites, with massive space launchers capable of sending AI satellites into space. He previously proposed achieving uncrewed lunar landing by 2027 and said SpaceX plans to build a city on the Moon.

Autonomous driving was also a focus of this interview. Musk introduced that Tesla is actively pushing for FSD regulatory approval in Europe. He revealed that Dutch authorities have informed Tesla that they expect to approve FSD around March 20.

On February 17, Tesla’s Austin Gigafactory in Texas produced its first Cybercab validation vehicle, marking the start of mass production of this autonomous taxi without a throttle or steering wheel.

In the video, Musk mentioned that the Cybercab, designed specifically for fully autonomous scenarios, is an important part of the company’s future business model. He further revealed that Tesla will begin mass production of Cybercab in April. If all goes well, the European factory may also start producing this model, and in the future, the production of the Optimus humanoid robot may also be established in Europe.

Regarding AI and robots’ impact on human jobs, Musk said that in the future, work will become an “option” for humans. People can choose jobs out of interest or not work at all, but this will only be possible after at least ten years.

The interview also touched on external environmental issues facing the future expansion of the Berlin factory. Musk responded to related questions by saying that if “external organizations” try to steer the company in the wrong direction, the situation could become more complicated. Some foreign media linked this statement to the German union environment. Thierig also mentioned that the future development of the factory is closely related to external factors.

Interestingly, during the conversation, Musk again sharply criticized the European traditional automotive industry. He bluntly stated that Europe’s auto industry has long resisted the transition to electric vehicles and autonomous driving innovation, and is regressing toward a “dinosaur era.”
