Deep Tide TechFlow News, February 27 — According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean Finance Minister Choo Yun-chul announced on February 27 that the government will expand public procurement projects for local companies' innovative artificial intelligence (AI) products to support industry development. The plan includes:
- Establishing a dedicated review committee in September to accelerate the entry of innovative AI products into the public procurement market
- Requiring that at least 50% of the components used in designated innovative products be domestically produced, strengthening the local supply chain
- Increasing the pilot procurement budget for innovative products from 52.9 billion KRW in 2025 to 83.9 billion KRW in 2026
Choo Yun-chul emphasized that public procurement will serve as a catalyst for AI innovation, not only transforming people's lives but also helping companies expand into global markets. The government will faithfully act as the "first customer" for innovative companies.
