Saudi Arabia has launched the Mowaridi platform, a unified digital marketplace aimed at revolutionizing the food supply chain in Mecca by directly connecting suppliers with kitchens and catering companies. The platform is designed to provide precise services to over 1.8 million pilgrims and millions of annual tourists, with features including real-time tracking, inventory management, and data analysis to improve preparation and transparency. This move supports Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" goal of building a sustainable and efficient food system and is part of a broader strategic transformation towards technological independence. Other projects include the Madinaty Smart City Platform and the Eashathon Food Technology Innovation Challenge.
