He pointed out that despite Ethereum's advocacy of "default privacy," it lacks this key zero-knowledge proof environment management (zkEVM) component, whereas Solana, Starknet, and Stellar had already had this component between 2020 and 2022. The EIP-5988 proposal, shelved in 2022, has hindered low-cost private transactions on Layer 1, forcing privacy protection to shift to more expensive Layer 2 solutions.
