Ministry of Foreign Affairs: China is deeply concerned about the escalation of the Pakistan-India conflict

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, February 27 — Early on the 27th, Pakistan conducted airstrikes in Afghanistan, rapidly escalating tensions between the two countries. In response, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning stated at a regular press conference that China is closely monitoring the development of the situation. Pakistan and Afghanistan are inescapable neighbors and also China’s neighboring countries. As neighbors and friends, China is deeply concerned about the escalation of the conflict and is very saddened by the casualties caused.

Mao Ning said that China has been mediating the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict through its own channels and is willing to continue playing a constructive role in de-escalating the situation and improving relations between the two countries. The Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Chinese embassies in Pakistan and Afghanistan are working on related matters. China demands that both countries ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
