Event Description:
Against the backdrop of accelerating integration of AI and blockchain infrastructure, the UK AI Agent Hackathon 2026 will hold its Opening Ceremony on March 1 at Imperial College London, officially kicking off this ecosystem initiative. Co-hosted by Imperial AI Group and Imperial Blockchain Society, this event is not only the start of a hackathon but also a cross-sector dialogue bringing together industry, capital, and policy forces to explore the structural changes brought by the fusion of AI Agents and decentralized infrastructure.
The Opening Ceremony will feature a high-level conference spanning multiple fields, with guests from AI technology frontiers, fintech, venture capital, and representatives from the UK government and industry. Former Stability AI CEO Emad Mostaque and Animoca Brands CEO Robby Yung will attend and deliver keynote speeches, engaging in in-depth discussions on generative AI, digital assets, and the next-generation internet architecture.
On the entrepreneurial and technical front, several founders and technical leaders active in AI and Web3 will participate in dialogues, including representatives from projects like SuperCell, Compression Company, z.ai (智谱ai), and successful founders and investors who have exited. They will discuss AI Agents, protocol layer innovations, and market deployment, sharing practical experiences from product and ecosystem development from zero to one.
At the capital and industry level, partners and investors from BackedVC, RockawayX, Animoca Brands, EWOR, and AdaVentures will participate in the Venture Capital panel, analyzing the long-term investment logic and structural opportunities in AI and decentralized infrastructure.
Government and corporate representatives will also attend. Officials from UK government fintech departments, as well as executives from Hugging Face, CogX, and other organizations, will discuss the long-term significance of AI and blockchain in regulatory frameworks, industry upgrades, and social impact.
This hackathon is sponsored and supported by leading industry organizations. Sponsors include BGA, Virtual Protocol, Flock.io, Unibase, Supercell, Animoca Brands, Sierra.ai, Cantor8, Anyway, and Compression Company, providing resources, funding, technical collaboration, and media support from PANews to help participating teams build and experiment in real, usable AI infrastructure environments.
Notably, the top projects will receive ongoing attention and support from multiple VC partners, including Animoca Brands, X Ventures, Delphi Ventures, and others, offering further incubation and investment opportunities. This ensures the event goes beyond mere showcase, forming a long-term ecosystem loop.
The Opening Ceremony will set the agenda and technical framework for the subsequent week of co-creation, serving as a key node connecting developers, investors, industry players, and policymakers.
