Huatai Securities' currency fund receives a high rating from S&P, pioneering Hong Kong-based Chinese institutions

Shanghai Securities News China Securities Network News (Reporter Yan Xiaofei): Recently, the international rating agency S&P Global Ratings announced that Huatai Securities’ subsidiary Huatai Financial Holdings (Hong Kong) Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Huatai FinCo”) managed Huatai Hong Kong Dollar Money Market Fund (HKD MMF) and Huatai US Dollar Money Market Fund (USD MMF) received ratings of AA-f/S1+ and AAf/S1+ respectively. This is the first time the three major international rating agencies (S&P, Moody’s, and Fitch) have rated public funds managed by Chinese institutions in Hong Kong, and also the first rating of US dollar money funds operating in Hong Kong.

Both funds are sub-funds of Huatai Global Investment Fund, registered in Hong Kong, mainly investing in short-term deposits and money market instruments. The Hong Kong dollar fund and US dollar fund each invest at least 70% of their net assets in HKD- and USD-denominated assets, respectively. According to the fund credit quality rating analysis report by the rating agency, the underlying assets of both funds are of high quality, the fund management team is experienced, and risk and compliance management are robust. Additionally, based on the fund volatility ratings by relevant institutions, the S1+ rating indicates that their risk levels are comparable to short-term government bonds, with stable returns and extremely low volatility.

Meanwhile, Huatai Securities recently appointed Zhang Dayu to oversee its offshore asset management business. Zhang Dayu has nearly 20 years of leadership experience in global capital markets, client relationship management, and cross-border business development. He has previously worked at CITIC Lyon UK and CITIC Securities headquarters, responsible for international business.

S&P Global Ratings is a leading independent credit rating agency worldwide. Its fund rating system combines quantitative and qualitative analysis to comprehensively assess fund credit quality and market risk. The high ratings awarded to Huatai FinCo’s funds by S&P reflect the recognition of the authority of this rating agency for Huatai Securities’ asset management internationalization efforts. It also demonstrates that Huatai Securities is continuously strengthening its international business strategy and integrating domestic and overseas operations, actively helping Chinese clients “go global” and overseas clients “come in,” to better serve the high-level opening of finance.
