On February 20, new details about the Nord Stream pipeline incident became known. According to data shared through the analytical portal Jin10, which references materials from the German publication Der Spiegel, former Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander Valeriy Zaluzhny allegedly authorized the sabotage of the energy pipeline. Sources claim that the commander made this decision independently, without approval from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Independent Decision by Ukrainian Command

The published Der Spiegel report states that Zelensky’s presidential administration was not informed about plans to destroy the pipeline. This indicates a discrepancy between the official policies of Kyiv’s leadership and the actions of high-ranking military officials. The information is based on testimonies from sources with access to classified data, but should only be considered as assumptions within the current geopolitical context.

Involvement of U.S. Intelligence

According to the same sources, the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) allegedly knew about the planned attack on the pipeline in advance. In 2022, U.S. intelligence personnel met with Ukrainian military representatives in Kyiv, where Ukrainian specialists reportedly outlined the concept of destroying the energy pipeline. This raises questions about the level of coordination between U.S. intelligence and Ukrainian military leadership regarding this pipeline incident.
