Emerging and future industries are experiencing rapid growth, with strong innovation momentum. By 2025, the number of new enterprises related to the “8 Major Emerging Industries + 9 Major Future Industries” will reach 1.134 million, a 9.9% increase from the previous year. Notably, frontier fields such as humanoid robots, civil aviation, and generative artificial intelligence have seen significant growth, further advancing China’s industrial system toward the mid-to-high end of the global value chain. The “8 Major Emerging Industries” mainly refer to key areas that already have a certain industrial foundation, relatively clear technological routes, and are in critical stages of large-scale expansion and commercialization, typically including new-generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, biotechnology, new energy vehicles, new energy industries, energy conservation and environmental protection, digital creativity, and related services. The “9 Major Future Industries” refer to fields still in the technological incubation or early industrialization stages but representing long-term development directions for science and industry, with the potential to lead globally in the future.
In the consumer sector, related enterprises show prominent highlights, with demand and supply mutually promoting each other’s optimization. Under the strong traction of the domestic market, new productive forces are creating new consumption scenarios. First, new supply creates new demand. By 2025, the number of businesses related to “smart consumer equipment manufacturing” will grow rapidly, reaching 78,000, with 5,000 new establishments. Second, experiential consumption empowers a better life. In 2025, 3.302 million new enterprises related to the cultural tourism industry will be established, a 12.2% increase from the previous year. Third, aging population needs drive industry upgrades and expansion. In 2025, the “silver economy” industry will see 68,000 new enterprises, a 17.1% increase year-on-year, maintaining high growth.
The scale of highly skilled entrepreneurial talent remains stable, with more professional technical skills and a global perspective. From traditional sectors, youth entrepreneurs continue to increase. By the end of 2025, youth entrepreneurs in the “wholesale and retail” sector will reach 1.729 million, an 8.4% increase from 2021. In emerging fields, youth entrepreneurs remain the main force, with 213,000 in “scientific research and technical services” and 526,000 in “culture, sports, and entertainment.” Regarding entrepreneurial models, internet-based businesses are growing rapidly, with new online live streaming companies and individual businesses increasing sharply in 2025.
A relevant official from the State Administration for Market Regulation stated that efforts will focus on the development needs of business entities, continuously improve market access and exit systems, deepen the construction of a unified national market, strive to maintain a fair competitive environment, continuously optimize government services related to enterprises, and further stimulate the vitality of various business entities.
