CITIC Finance APP has learned that steel stocks are rising again. As of the time of writing, Chongqing Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (01053) increased by 7.38%, trading at HKD 1.31; Maanshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (00323) rose by 4.67%, trading at HKD 2.69; Ansteel Co., Ltd. (00347) increased by 4.41%, trading at HKD 2.13; China Oriental Group (00581) rose by 2.56%, trading at HKD 1.6.

On the news front, several steel companies reported a strong start in production for January 2026. Fangda Steel produced 105.01%, 110.63%, and 110.71% of their planned pig iron, crude steel, and steel product outputs, respectively, reaching new highs in multiple key indicators. Yangchun New Steel achieved a 101% full-month production and sales rate in January, with new breakthroughs in sales channels.

Huatai Securities released a research report stating that recent two sessions’ self-imposed emission reductions may mark the start of the substantive implementation phase of the dual-carbon policy. Normalization of supply constraints could become the core driver of industry profit recovery, and the steel industry is expected to rebound in 2026. Currently, the industry is at a historic low, coupled with long-term declines in crude steel production, continuous optimization of downstream demand structure, and steel entering a recovery cycle led by policies, supply contraction, and increased profit elasticity.
