Cryptocurrency investigator John (Lick) has emerged as a central figure in a sprawling theft investigation that spans multiple jurisdictions, according to reporting from PANews. The case centers on the unauthorized transfer of over $90 million in digital assets stolen from a U.S. government-controlled cryptocurrency address. Beyond this major heist, authorities have identified a pattern of theft targeting at least a dozen unidentified victims during the final two months of 2025.

On-chain monitoring has documented a troubling pattern: John (Lick) has systematically begun routing the stolen assets through Tornado Cash, a cryptocurrency mixer designed to obscure transaction trails. To date, approximately 11,037 ETH has been funneled through the protocol, representing millions in value. The use of mixing services underscores the sophistication of the alleged scheme to launder the illegally obtained funds and complicate law enforcement tracking efforts across the blockchain network.
