Reuters reports that the US military may attack Iran within 24 hours, with Trump seeking a swift resolution. Iran has warned neighboring countries not to allow passage for US forces, as local protests have resulted in over 2,600 deaths.

Reuters: US to Attack Iran Within 24 Hours

According to Reuters, US officials confirm that the US military is withdrawing some personnel from Middle Eastern bases. This is due to warnings from high-ranking Iranian officials that if Washington launches an attack, Tehran will retaliate by striking US military bases.

Two European officials revealed that US military intervention is very likely to unfold within the next 24 hours. An Israeli official also stated that Trump seems to have decided to intervene, but the specific scale and timing remain unclear.

Additionally, three diplomatic sources indicated that some personnel at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar have received evacuation notices, but there are no signs yet of large-scale troop movements like last year before Iran missile strikes, where many units were bused en masse to stadiums or shopping centers.

NBC Exclusive: Trump Seeks a Swift Victory

Regarding potential military deployment, NBC News reports that Trump has explicitly told the national security team that if the US takes military action against Iran, it must be a swift and decisive strike against the regime, aiming to inflict heavy damage rather than dragging out a prolonged conflict lasting weeks or months.

Sources say Trump emphasizes that if action is taken, it must be thorough, but his advisors have yet to guarantee him that airstrikes could quickly topple the Iranian regime.

US officials also worry that the US may not have enough defensive assets deployed in the region to counter Iran’s expected fierce retaliation, adding uncertainty to the decision-making process.

Iran Warns Neighbors Not to Allow Passage, US Deploys Heavy Troops in Middle East

Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran has warned regional allies such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey that if the US uses these countries’ bases to attack Iran, those bases will become targets for retaliation.

Currently, the US has deployed heavy forces in the Middle East, including the forward headquarters of Central Command in Qatar and the Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. Earlier, Iran’s allies in Lebanon and Syria faced setbacks, and last June, Israel and the US conducted a 12-day bombing campaign that severely damaged Iran’s government credibility.

European powers subsequently restored UN sanctions on Iran’s nuclear program, worsening the local economic crisis.

Iran Protests Turn Violent, Casualties Continue to Rise

Iran has recently experienced severe anti-government protests, which both Iranian authorities and Western countries describe as the most violent unrest since the Islamic Revolution in 1979 established Shiite clerical rule.

An Iranian official revealed that over 2,000 people have died, while human rights groups estimate the death toll exceeds 2,600. Iran’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Abdolrahim Mousavi, recently accused foreign powers of interference and stated that Iran has never faced such a scale of destruction, indicating that the Iranian government is facing an unprecedented crisis of governance.
