Interesting market developments are coming. Stripe has launched the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP), specifically designed for AI agents, in collaboration with OpenAI. Shopify is not to be outdone, launching the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), also targeting the AI agent track, this time partnering with Google.

Both are industry giants. One is a leading payment provider teaming up with an AI large model leader, and the other is an e-commerce platform joining forces with a search engine giant. From the perspective of ecosystem integration and technological reserves, this protocol competition could determine the future of AI commerce discourse. Here we go again, two giants each staking their territory. This time, it's a gamble on AI agent commerce. Data shows that the last time such a "decisive battle for future dominance" occurred, the winner ultimately didn't gain much actual commercial return... Ironically, the true standards are often chosen coldly by the market, not planned out by capital. Wait, standard competition? Isn't this just Browser Wars 2.0? [Cold laugh] Honestly, watching these two giants each rally their teams to compete, I can't help but think of the fate of "revolutionary standards" like FTP and WebDAV. Interestingly, the winner is often not the one with the best technology.

Here we go again, big companies are competing to see whose protocol is more awesome. Basically, it's a fight for the entrance to AI commerce. Stripe+OpenAI vs Shopify+Google, this lineup is quite interesting. But I still think Google has a slight advantage since the search DNA is right there. In the end, the standard battle is just about mutual compatibility. After all the fuss, it comes back to the starting point. OpenAI is now caught in the middle, and their collaboration isn't enough. The real winner will be whoever can first establish an ecosystem chain; the protocol itself isn't that important. Both of them want to be the "Android" of AI e-commerce, it's hilarious. Wait, if this continues, won't ordinary merchants have to learn two sets of things... so annoying.
