Ethereum advances towards the era of zero-knowledge proofs, zkEVM native plans emerge

【Blockchain Rhythm】Recently, Hsiao-Wei Wang, Co-Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation, stated that Ethereum is steadily advancing the integration of zero-knowledge cryptography, with years of research accumulation accelerating its collision with practical application scenarios.

Zero-knowledge proofs have become an important part of Ethereum’s mid-term development blueprint. Over the past one or two years, this technology has achieved several phased breakthroughs. Although current upgrades focus on optimizing Layer 2 execution efficiency and Blob space utilization, the feasibility of zero-knowledge proofs as a protocol-level feature has become increasingly mature.

What is even more noteworthy is that the Ethereum research team has advanced the native zkEVM plan, which means the network can default to using zero-knowledge proofs to verify transactions. The power of this solution lies in: significantly reducing the computational costs required to protect the entire network, while achieving true on-chain scalability without compromising decentralization or security.

Hsiao-Wei Wang emphasized that regardless of how the network evolves, resilience, security, censorship resistance, and neutrality will always be the unwavering core values of Ethereum.

If the native zkEVM step truly comes to fruition, the entire cost structure of the Ethereum ecosystem might need to be reshuffled. It doesn't seem that quick.

ngl, native zkevm sounds nice on paper but let's see if the incentive design actually holds up when mainnet validators gotta run these proofs. velocity trap waiting to happen if nobody actually uses it

The native integration of zkEVM is truly groundbreaking. Ethereum has played this move perfectly, directly cutting the computational costs in half.

zkEVM native? Nice words, but when will it actually be implemented... ETH has made too many promises over the past few years.
