There have been some interesting changes in the ZEC ecosystem recently. The development team, due to disagreements over governance philosophy, collectively decided to create a project called CashZ. At first glance, it seems quite chaotic, but upon closer inspection, it’s actually quite interesting—CashZ still focuses on the development of the ZEC protocol itself, built based on the Zashi codebase, and positioned as a privacy wallet solution within the ZEC ecosystem.
This makes people a bit confused. Is CashZ competing with ZEC, or is it just another way of continuing to serve the ZEC ecosystem?
Actually, this is the beauty of the open-source ecosystem. The code is available, and anyone capable can take over maintenance, free from the constraints of any single organization. If there are disagreements within the team, they can go their separate ways. Have better ideas? Fork a new branch. This level of freedom is something centralized structures simply cannot provide. Ultimately, whether a route is successful or not will be decided by the market and users through their support.
