Retail pet care company Chewy has brought on Mark Eamer as its new Chief Marketing Officer, a move that marks a significant shift in leadership for the brand’s customer acquisition and engagement strategies. Eamer, who spent over two decades at Amazon building some of the retail giant’s most recognizable marketing initiatives, is set to oversee all marketing operations, customer growth initiatives, and go-to-market strategies.

From Tech Giant to Pet Retail: Eamer’s Career Arc

The executive’s appointment comes after an impressive tenure at Amazon, where he most recently held the position of Vice President of Advertising, Product and Media. During his time there, Eamer orchestrated marketing campaigns for some of Amazon’s flagship platforms, including FireTV, IMDb TV, Alexa Devices, and the company’s streaming services. His work on Prime Video proved particularly transformative—he spearheaded the U.S. market expansion of the streaming platform and oversaw the launch of hit series like Jack Ryan and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, while simultaneously building automated marketing infrastructure.

Prior to his role in advertising, Eamer held a Worldwide Vice President position managing Amazon Local, where he directed product, marketing, and personalization efforts for emerging business units. This combination of P&L ownership across nascent businesses and his ability to scale digital platforms from the ground up makes his appointment to Chewy’s leadership structure particularly strategic.

Earlier in his career, Eamer spent time at Zillow, where he directed marketing efforts and established key partnerships to expand the company’s Zestimates syndication across third-party platforms.

What Eamer Will Drive at Chewy

In his new role, Eamer will command Chewy’s entire marketing apparatus, from full-funnel customer acquisition to engagement analytics. His mandate includes refining the company’s go-to-market execution and deepening partnerships with the 2,500+ brands that support Chewy’s product catalog. The appointment signals Chewy’s investment in data-driven marketing strategies and customer-centric program development.

Sumit Singh, CEO of Chewy, noted that Eamer’s experience transforming digital programs and building customer-obsessed initiatives aligns with the company’s mission to become the most trusted and convenient destination for pet parents everywhere.

Chewy, traded on the NYSE under the ticker CHWY, operates as one of the largest online retailers for pet products, supplies, and prescriptions, serving millions of customers across North America.
