Alert Innovation, headquartered in the Boston area, has been collaborating with Walmart since 2016 to develop customized automation solutions. The partnership materialized into a working pilot of the Alphabot System at Walmart's first market fulfillment center (MFC) in Salem, New Hampshire starting in 2019. The Alphabot System represents a breakthrough in grocery automation, employing advanced omnidirectional robots within temperature-controlled environments to streamline fresh food fulfillment with precision and efficiency.

By bringing Alert Innovation in-house, Walmart gains direct control over a proprietary technology platform that accelerates MFC deployment across its store network. This move eliminates third-party dependency and enables Walmart to scale automation infrastructure faster than competitors.
