Polestar's American Manufacturing Push: How U.S. Headquarters Expansion Fuels North American Deliveries
Swedish electric performance brand Polestar has started rolling out domestically manufactured Polestar 3 SUVs to customers across North America, marking a significant milestone in the company’s regional growth strategy. Following initial deliveries across the U.S. and Canada in recent weeks, the South Carolina manufacturing facility has now joined the production efforts, signaling Polestar’s commitment to establishing a stronger local presence.
The Strategic Move to U.S. Production
The shift toward U.S.-built vehicles represents more than just a manufacturing decision—it reflects Polestar’s determination to deepen roots in the North American market. With its U.S. headquarters based in the New York area and over 30 Polestar Spaces already operational across major electric vehicle markets in the region, the company is executing a comprehensive strategy to capture market share in one of the world’s most competitive EV segments.
Deliveries are accelerating rapidly, with the brand targeting increased volume in coming weeks. Major Canadian cities including Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver—representing over 90 percent of the nation’s EV market—have already received the first batches. Anders Gustafsson, Head of Polestar North America, emphasized the significance of this moment: “U.S.-built Polestar 3’s making their way to customers represents not just manufacturing success, but a validation of our regional commitment.”
Expanding the Lineup: The Three-Car Strategy
Polestar is no longer a single-model brand. The company now offers three core vehicles: the Polestar 2 electric performance fastback, the newly delivered Polestar 3 SUV designed specifically for North American preferences, and the Polestar 4 SUV coupé. This diversified approach allows the brand to capture different customer segments and use cases.
The expansion doesn’t stop there. By 2026, Polestar plans to introduce five performance EVs to its lineup, including the Polestar 5 four-door GT and the Polestar 6 electric roadster—both highly anticipated by enthusiasts and media alike.
Global Reach with Local Focus
Operating in 27 markets worldwide across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, Polestar is building a truly global presence while maintaining hyper-local execution. The company plans additional market expansion throughout 2025, demonstrating aggressive growth ambitions. Test drives are available at Polestar Spaces, where customers can experience the performance and technology firsthand.
Sustainability at the Core
Beyond commercial success, Polestar is pursuing an ambitious environmental agenda through its Polestar 0 project—a research initiative aimed at creating a climate-neutral production car by 2030. This isn’t just corporate messaging; it represents a fundamental challenge to the entire automotive industry to accelerate toward zero-emission production.
The combination of U.S.-based manufacturing, regional headquarters presence, product diversification, and aggressive delivery acceleration positions Polestar as a serious contender in the North American electric vehicle market.
