This appointment signals the firm’s push to strengthen relationships with large institutional investors and expand its alternative asset offerings on a global scale.
Who Is Paget MacColl?
MacColl brings nearly two decades of experience navigating the alternative investments landscape. Most recently, she served as co-head of Americas Institutional Client Business at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she managed strategy and client relations across North America and Latin America. Before that role, she held the position of Global Head of Institutional Capital Markets at Goldman Sachs, overseeing institutional distribution and fundraising operations.
Her track record at Goldman Sachs spans more than two decades, starting in 1999 within the Debt Capital Markets division. She earned the managing director title in 2009 and made partner in 2016—a significant milestone in the firm. MacColl holds a BA from Princeton University and is a CFA Charterholder. Beyond her corporate responsibilities, she serves on the boards of Greenwich Academy and The Children’s School.
What Does This Mean for BAAM?
At Blackstone’s alternative asset division, MacColl will oversee Limited Partner relationships and drive business development efforts worldwide. Her mandate includes communicating BAAM’s capabilities to institutional investors globally and launching new strategies to meet evolving client needs.
Blackstone’s co-heads of BAAM see her hire as critical to the division’s next phase. They emphasize that her strategic acumen in marketing alternative investment solutions and her institutional relationships will be instrumental in positioning BAAM’s offerings to a diverse investor base around the world.
The Bigger Picture
The move underscores Blackstone’s emphasis on institutional client engagement as it manages a substantial $649 billion in assets under management. This portfolio spans private equity, real estate, public markets, life sciences, growth equity, credit strategies, real assets, and secondary funds globally. By bringing in seasoned talent like MacColl from top-tier asset managers, Blackstone continues to strengthen its competitive position in the alternative assets space.
