CVS Pharmacy Becomes Major Hub For UPS Package Services Across America

UPS is significantly expanding its Access Point network by integrating operations into over 6,000 CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide, marking a strategic shift in how Americans access shipping and delivery services. This expansion will bring the total UPS Access Point footprint to more than 15,000 locations across the country.

The partnership represents a convergence of two retail powerhouses addressing the evolving needs of e-commerce consumers. Rather than visiting separate locations for pharmacy and shipping services, customers can now consolidate their errands at a single destination. The rollout will commence immediately, with the infrastructure already in place at standalone CVS Pharmacy stores.

Market Reach And Consumer Convenience

The scope of this initiative is substantial. With this CVS integration combined with existing UPS Store locations and neighborhood business partners, UPS now operates over 40,000 Access Point locations globally, supplemented by 38,000 drop-boxes. This creates a network exceeding 78,000 worldwide touchpoints for package handling. According to UPS projections, this expanded accessibility means more than 90 percent of U.S. residents will locate a UPS Access Point within five miles of their residence.

Kevin Warren, UPS’s chief marketing officer, emphasized the strategic value: “This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to giving customers greater choice and flexibility through our UPS My Choice network.” The UPS My Choice program, which serves over 60 million members, allows users to customize delivery preferences—from advance package signing and vacation holds to address changes and alternative drop-off locations.

Benefits For Both Retailers

CVS Pharmacy gains operational and foot-traffic advantages from hosting UPS services. Kevin Hourican, Executive Vice President of CVS Health and President of CVS Pharmacy, stated that the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to omnichannel retail experiences. “This addition enhances our value proposition for customers juggling demanding schedules and seeking consolidated shopping solutions,” Hourican noted.

For UPS, the CVS network represents a qualitative shift in its Access Point strategy. Previously, the program concentrated on The UPS Store franchises and independent retailers. The addition of a national pharmacy chain transforms the accessibility landscape, particularly in underserved communities where CVS maintains substantial presence.
