Honestly, I've always felt that human nature is inherently evil.
But in my hometown county, I got scammed 3 times in one week, which is indeed a high rate.
The first time was taking a taxi: from the countryside to the city, the ride cost just over 30 yuan with a ride-hailing app, but I was charged 50 yuan after the meter was used.
I strongly suspect the meter was tampered with—no matter how much, could it really be nearly double?
The second time was at a parking lot. Truly, I've never encountered a place without parking lines or designated parking spots, and no license plates on private parking spaces.
And my car has a phone number, but they didn't call me—they just blocked me directly, claiming I was occupying their spot.
I said, 1) there are no parking lines here, 2) no license plate on your car, I didn't know. I know I wouldn't park like that, and I have a phone number—you call me, and I'll move immediately.
Finally, I called the police before they moved the car.
The third time was at a restaurant. It was busy, and I booked two tables for guests, asked them to bring a box of beer, but it wasn't served. When I paid the bill, they charged me for it.
A few days later, my family talked about it and realized that the beer wasn't served or drunk that day.
Otherwise, I would have been a fool paying for a whole box of beer.
All of these are my real experiences.
In big cities, I've also encountered scams—for example, buying five skewers of candied hawthorn, four of which were rotten.
Once, I was scammed by a taxi—what was supposed to be 15 yuan ended up costing over 30.
But the scam rate in my hometown county is way too high—three scams in one week.
➡️ My friend is a civil servant at the grassroots level. When I talked to him, he said he really supports the electric vehicles being promoted in rural areas.
I asked why.
He said he had encountered an elderly woman whose daughter-in-law refused to get pregnant and kept blaming the 5G signal towers of China Mobile, complaining daily and demanding their removal.
Rural road construction is good, but passing by a certain household, they said it occupied their land and demanded money (isn't that extortion of the government?). In the end, they paid 2000 yuan.
He also told me about a visit to deliver goods the day before poverty alleviation efforts, even taking photos. The next day, undercover personnel came to ask if the poverty alleviation office had visited. The old man denied it outright.
If it weren't for the photos, you'd think they never went.
In summary:
I don't know if all these bad people just happen to cross my path, or if it's really a regional issue?
What does everyone think?
