Honestly, the recent performance of the POL chain has been a bit exhausting. Seeing the activity level of projects in the ecosystem decline more and more, and DeFi liquidity gradually shrinking, there's a sense of powerlessness.
It's not that Polygon was not promising at the start; the Layer2 approach was actually correct. The problem is that the competitive landscape has completely changed over the past two years. Arbitrum, Optimism, and a bunch of emerging L2s are fighting for territory. Polygon has neither kept up with technological iterations nor maintained its ecosystem attractiveness, which is being eroded.
The most heartbreaking part is that major projects and large funds are migrating to other chains, leaving behind mostly smaller projects. This ecosystem cycle is becoming increasingly unsustainable. It feels like, rather than holding onto illusions, it's better to face reality early and shift focus to other opportunities. Of course, completely failing is unlikely, but to say a comeback? That would require a significant transformation.
