There’s an organization in South Africa called Bitcoin Ekasi that pulled off a pretty cool move—giving out scholarships in Bitcoin. As long as kids attend the Bitcoin Mi Primer classes on time and do their homework diligently, they get a certain amount of BTC every week, which they can spend directly at nearby stores.

Honestly, I’m kind of jealous. If I had this kind of perk when I was in school, I’d probably be sitting in the front row every day, grinding math problems until 3 a.m. If I didn’t get first place in my grade, I’d have no one to blame but myself for not working hard enough.

This is what a real incentive mechanism looks like, much more reliable than any traditional scholarship. Directly issuing tokens that can be spent or withdrawn—kids instantly understand what value flow means. South Africa is absolutely crushing it with this move, while we're still handing out certificates. Wait, is this course free? Or is it just another new way to exploit people? If only I had gone to study in South Africa a few years earlier—now it's too late to regret.
