What does the market look like now with #XPL ? The screen is filled with AI + Blockchain, Restaking narratives, as if projects without these labels are destined to be swept into the dustbin of history. But recently, I've been focusing on an obscure player - XPL.

Does this name sound familiar? Yes, it’s that old project based on the Plasma framework. Many people have categorized it as "outdated technology": slow, clunky, and unremarkable. But here’s the question: what if its silence over the past six months isn’t a sign of surrender, but rather a preparation for some kind of technological breakthrough in the shadows?

To understand this matter, we need to break it down into two questions. First, is the XPL technology route, which is caught in the middle, an advantage or a burden? Second, what kind of soil will the applications that can truly emerge in the next bull market grow in? If we find answers to these two questions, the situation will become clear.

First, let's look at the technical aspect. What is Plasma good at? It handles high-frequency small transactions, with costs so low they can be ignored, and speeds as fast as if it had cheats. What are the drawbacks? It's not versatile enough, and synchronizing with the mainnet data is more troublesome than Rollup solutions, making it incapable of those complex DeFi combinations.

This is awkward. How does it compare in versatility to players like Arbitrum and other Rollups? It can't compete. When compared to the purely focused Lightning Network for payments, it appears bloated. XPL is stuck in this ambiguous position, like an actor who hasn't found a stage.

But think from a different perspective. What if the next wave of explosion is not DeFi 3.0, but high-frequency scenarios like chain games, social networks, and micropayments? Can Rollup handle those applications that need to process tens of thousands of transactions per second, but with small amounts per transaction? Can the costs be sustained?

The characteristics of Plasma have become a killer feature in this scenario. If XPL is truly working on some compatibility upgrades or cross-chain solutions, then its current silence may not be waiting for death, but rather waiting for the right opportunity.

Of course, this is just one possibility. But that's how the market is; when everyone is focused on the obvious, real opportunities are often hidden in overlooked corners.
