The Trump Organization and Dar Global are tokenizing the development of a luxury hospitality project, introducing an “unprecedented financial innovation,” according to a joint announcement.

Unlike most tokenized real estate projects that fraction the ownership of completed or nearly completed properties, the initiative will allow investors to have exposure from the earliest stages of development.

The new resort, Trump International Hotel Maldives, is expected to open by the end of 2028. Located 25 minutes by speedboat from Malé, the resort will feature around 80 luxury villas on the beach and over the water, aimed at travelers seeking “the highest levels of privacy, exclusivity, and sophistication.”

The development plans aim to leverage the advantages of the growing real-world asset tokenization sector, which transforms tangible assets into records on the blockchain, offering greater access to investors through fractional shares and 24-hour trading opportunities.

“New standard” for tokenized real estate investments

The new resort development initiative will set a “new standard” for tokenized real estate investments, according to Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization.

“This development will not only redefine luxury in the region, but also establish a new standard of innovation in real estate investment through tokenization,” he stated.

The Trump Organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment on what specific investment opportunities will be offered in the tokenized model.

“Tokenizing the development of the Trump International Hotel Maldives marks a global pioneering effort that combines luxury, innovation, and technology in a way that will transform how the world invests in hospitality,” said Ziad El Chaar, CEO of Dar Global.

The development occurs as cryptocurrency ventures linked to Trump gain momentum during the second term of U.S. President Donald Trump. On October 16, the Trump family's crypto-related businesses, including World Liberty Financial (WLFI), Official Trump and Melania Meme, had recorded about $1 billion in profit before taxes.
