Bitcoin Whales Quietly Stacking: 15K+ Addresses Now Control 59% of Supply

robot
Abstract generation in progress

Here’s what’s happening on-chain: Santiment just dropped data showing 15,870 whale addresses each holding 100+ BTC, which collectively locks up 11.5 million bitcoins — more than half the circulating supply.

But here’s the kicker — these whales didn’t sit idle. Over the past 12 weeks alone, they accumulated an additional 27,755 BTC, basically printing their own digital gold at scale. That’s roughly $1.7 billion worth of accumulation in 3 months (at current prices).

What this means:

  • Extreme concentration: When ~16K addresses control nearly 60% of all Bitcoin, that’s not decentralization anymore — that’s institutional wealth consolidation on steroids.
  • Accumulation trend: Whales buying the dip consistently signals confidence, or at least deep pockets aren’t panicking.
  • Market implication: Fewer hands holding more coins = higher volatility potential when these giants move. A coordinated sell-off from even 5% of these addresses could tank the market.

The real question: Are these whale addresses long-term HODLers building positions, or are they setting up for a mega dump? Monitoring their wallet flows is basically your crystal ball for what’s coming next.

Bottom line: Bitcoin’s concentration game just hit a new milestone. Not bullish or bearish — just how centralized the “decentralized” king coin has become.
