Last summer, I had an opportunity at a coffee shop that changed my perspective on cross-border payments. At that time, I was completing an international transfer for my mother, intending to provide funding for my cousin's startup project. When using a traditional bank's app, I was informed that the transaction would take 3 to 5 business days to complete and that there would be a fee of 120 yuan. This left me feeling both confused and frustrated.
At that moment, a friend sitting next to me, who works in the blockchain industry, suggested that I try using a stablecoin on the Polygon network for the transfer. Initially, I was skeptical, but decided to give it a try. Under his guidance, I switched to the Polygon network, entered the recipient's address, and confirmed the transaction. To my surprise, just two seconds later, I received a notification that the transfer was successful, and the fee was only about 0.03 dollars.
This experience completely changed my view on blockchain payments. Over the next year or so, I began to closely follow the development of the Polygon network. I witnessed its transformation from MATIC to POL, as well as its rapid growth in the payment and real-world asset (RWA) sectors. Gradually, I also became a staking participant of POL, experiencing firsthand the changes brought about by the upgrade of Web3 infrastructure.
At the beginning of this year, Polygon officially announced that the migration from MATIC to POL was 99% complete, which caught my attention. As a user who once encountered problems due to the confusion of token names, I specifically researched the details of this migration. I found that this is not just a simple name change, but also a measure to unify the security layer of the entire Polygon ecosystem.
This in-depth understanding has made me realize that blockchain technology is changing our payment methods at an unprecedented speed. The development of the Polygon network has not only improved transaction efficiency but also significantly reduced costs, opening up a whole new path for cross-border payments. As someone who has experienced it firsthand, I feel that the arrival of the Web3 era is reshaping our financial experience, and Polygon is undoubtedly one of the key drivers of this transformation.
