According to a report by Decrypt on August 5th, the Lancashire police recently announced that Bitcoin seized in a theft case from 2017 has generated a premium profit of $665,000 (£500,000) due to the price rise. Under UK law, after the victim receives full compensation, half of the premium profit will be allocated to the police special enforcement fund, while the other half will be paid to the treasury.

The Economic Crime Department of the police stated that the funds will be used to purchase law enforcement equipment and support community safety projects. This is the first time that the police department has obtained capital gains from digital assets through the new legislation. The individuals involved in the crimes have been sentenced in accordance with the law.
