For a long time, there has been an emphasis on upward socializing. Basically, the viewpoint I've heard is that one should be with stronger individuals to leverage resources for self-improvement. The logic is sound.

But in this day and age, I believe that wealthy people are definitely smart people. There are two types of wealthy individuals: one type is very busy with their physical business (too busy to pay attention to you), and the other type is even wealthier and has plenty of time (second-generation rich + doing finance + companies engaged in rental and sales business). It's hard to get close to the first type, and if you get close to the second type, you're just spending time becoming someone else's pastime companion. You might think I'm wrong; just try borrowing money from them and see. Don't say you're brothers; first, ask yourself what value you provide to others (understand yourself). Even if you're just a playmate, you're still bowing and scraping, unable to stand tall; you're just a pet. At 20, you can be a wealthy person's pet; at 30, you can be, but by 40, if you haven't even gotten a bone, then just give it up.
The captain always said to squint at the world. Those who think this way might as well read more, think of ways to improve themselves, and not waste time. The captain says this because there are examples around him. There was someone like that beside me, and now in his 40s, he is nearly 2 million in debt. Marriage also emphasizes matching social status, and friendship is the same.
Coming together based on a hobby, these are not friends; they are just fellow enthusiasts in a phase, like fishing buddies, mahjong friends, cryptocurrency friends... all such people. We can all say we are friends, but these people are just passersby on the road of life, and as we walk, we eventually part ways. It's time to wake up and think about how to walk our own path.
Socializing upward should be purposeful; you should learn something. Don't end up bowing and scraping for a lifetime, and aside from establishing a luxurious worldview, you won't gain anything for yourself.
You are just a chicken, so lay your eggs well and don't spend too much time circling around with the phoenix, as Li Baiqing said 😂
