Recently, an artificial intelligence summit was held in Washington. At the meeting, Trump expressed his views on the recruitment strategies of American tech giants, calling for American companies, represented by Google and Microsoft, to focus more on creating domestic job opportunities rather than continuously providing job positions for Indian tech talent.
However, it is worth noting that the CEOs of both Google and Microsoft, two tech giants, happen to be of Indian descent. This situation may complicate the process of changing existing hiring practices. For a long time, American tech companies have tended to hire talent from India, and this practice has created a certain inertia.
In addition, the employment of Indian employees by American companies involves deeper issues. Once an Indian person joins an American company, it often leads to the entire family gradually entering the U.S. job market. This recruitment model, similar to chain immigration, has become deeply entrenched, and it is likely not easy to completely change.
From another perspective, the American tech industry is currently enjoying the demographic dividend brought by talent from India. Whether this talent recruitment model will continue, and the potential long-term impacts it may bring, are worth our further attention and consideration.
