The Value of GCV of Pi Network: Strong Belief or Unrealistic Illusion?
In the Pi Network community today, there is a strong belief that each Pi is worth a fixed value of 314.159 USD. This concept is known as "Global Consensus Value (GCV)". However, this belief is creating a lot of unrealistic expectations, leaving the community confused as there is no market evidence to support it. GCV 314.159 USD Where Does It Come From? The "sky-high" value of 314.159 USD per Pi coin was not provided by the Pi Core Team (, the official development team of Pi Network ), nor does it stem from any actual trading activity in the market. According to an analysis from a Pi community analyst, Dr. Altcoin, the price level of GCV stems from the media campaigns of the "pioneers" – early supporters of Pi. These campaigns have spread rapidly, especially in developing countries where people have a strong belief in the future of Pi. Many pioneers believe that Pi is a special digital currency with outstanding value. They don't just talk about it, but they also organize Pi commodity exchange events, train volunteers, and even organize conferences with the goal of consolidating and propagating GCV prices. The Ambiguity from the Pi Core Team It's worth noting that Pi Core Team has never officially confirmed GCV, but it hasn't ruled it out either. They often make vague statements such as: "Pi has value created by the pioneers themselves". It is this ambiguity that has facilitated the concept of GCV to thrive in the community, especially through social media channels and informal media groups. Market Reality: Pi Only Trades Around 0.65 USD On exchanges ( in the form of IOU or futures contracts ), the current price of Pi is only around 0.65 USD, which is far from the figure of 314.159 USD. If the value of GCV is real, then the market capitalization of Pi will exceed 72 trillion USD – a figure higher than the total GDP of all countries in the world combined. This is completely unrealistic in the current context. Moreover, the claims that GCV is integrated into the project's GitHub code have been refuted, as most of the source code was found to be copied and has no connection to the official development team. Issues Regarding Control and Barter Transactions Currently, the majority of Pi coins are still held by the Pi Core Team, and the ecosystem has not really opened up to the market. This centralized control makes it difficult for the value of Pi to reflect the free market principles, like Bitcoin or Ethereum. Although supporters of GCV often cite barter transactions (đổi goods in Pi) as proof of value, the majority of transactions involve only small, low-value items. High-value transactions under GCV are largely unauthenticated or non-transparent. Notably, there is a case where users spend Pi to buy an item with a "GCV" value of 3 USD, but have to pay a transaction fee of more than 3,000 USD, showing a deep contradiction in the calculation and application of GCV. Conclusion: Trust Must Be Attached to Reality GCV can be a symbol of hope, of belief in the bright future of Pi Network. But without a market basis, without confirmation from the development team, and without transparency in transactions, GCV is just a science fiction scenario. Users need to be alert, clearly distinguishing between belief and truth, between hope and data. Pi Network is still a promising project, but for sustainable success, it must be based on real value established by the market, not on symbolic numbers passed around in the community.
