SEC gives the green light for ProShares to launch the XRP ETF
The Securities and Exchange Commission of America (SEC) has given the green light for ProShares Trust to launch a series of ETF funds related to XRP, officially setting April 30, 2025, as the effective date. According to the recently updated Form N-1A filing, this launch will include multiple ETF funds focused on XRP.
The registration announcement states that the amendment is made to set a new effective date for the previously filed funds, including ProShares UltraShort XRP ETF, ProShares Ultra XRP ETF, and ProShares Short XRP ETF. The SEC notes that this amendment is only intended to establish April 30 as the launch date, with no immediate effectiveness required after the filing.
It should be noted that, with these types of ETFs, the SEC does not approve them in the same way as spot ETF products. They are only effective if, within a certain period from the filing date, the SEC does not raise any objections. In this case, April 30, 2025, has been chosen as the effective date.
The headquarters of ProShares Trust is located in Bethesda, Maryland. ProShare Advisors LLC serves as the investment advisor, while Mr. Richard Morris has been appointed as the legal representative, with support from the law firm Dechert LLP in New York. This launch marks ProShares Trust's strategic advancement into the digital asset space, aligning with the company's direction of developing investment products linked to cryptocurrencies. The funds are structured as mutual fund (mutual fund) and comply with both the Securities Act and the Investment Company Act.
ProShares' XRP ETF funds will provide investment options with leveraged (leveraged) and inverse (inverse) based on XRP price fluctuations, enabling investors to access this popular digital asset through tightly regulated financial products. However, this is not a spot ETF for XRP — something the community is still eagerly awaiting. Investors are currently focusing their attention on April 30, anticipating that this will be an important milestone for investment products related to XRP in the legal environment in America.
