Salman Banaei's latest appointment may strengthen the legal leadership of Plume Network.

Plume Network, a full-stack RWAfi blockchain development team, today announced the appointment of B. Salman Banaei as the new General Counsel. In this position, Mr. Banaei will lead the development of legal, policy, and compliance strategies, assisting Plume in expanding its real-world asset (RWAs) service network on its open blockchain infrastructure in collaboration with over 180 institutions, including Apollo Global Management, Goldfinch (whose platform provides Plume Network participants access to private credit fund channels managed by Ares Capital Management, Golub Capital, and KKR), Invesco, Superstate, UBS, and other institutional asset management companies, as well as well-known institutions such as Ondo Finance, Paypal, and Paxos.

Mr. Banaei has deep experience in both the public and private sectors. Previously, he served as Senior Special Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where he oversaw national stock exchanges, alternative trading systems, and securities-based swap execution facilities, as well as providing legal and policy advice on the digital assets and crypto space. Prior to joining the SEC, Salman served as Assistant General Counsel and Head of Policy at Uniswap Labs and held similar positions at Chainalysis and IHS Markit (now S&P Global), where he also served as Head of the Blockchain Division, where he led the development of enterprise-grade blockchain-based leveraged lending and carbon market applications.

Salman previously served at the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), where he participated in the implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act's derivatives market reforms following the 2008 global financial crisis, possessing high-level financial regulatory policy formulation experience. Additionally, he has nearly a decade of experience providing consulting services to leading TradFi and DeFi companies. With this background, Salman will bring the expertise in integrating the technology and regulatory framework of TradFi and DeFi to Plume.
