When responding to questions about the review of Meta’s acquisition of the artificial intelligence platform Manus, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong stated that the Chinese government has always supported enterprises in conducting mutually beneficial and win-win cross-border operations and international technological cooperation in accordance with laws and regulations. It should be noted that activities such as foreign investment, technology export, data outbound, and cross-border mergers and acquisitions must comply with Chinese laws and regulations and follow statutory procedures. The Ministry of Commerce will work with relevant departments to conduct an assessment and investigation on the consistency of this acquisition with export controls, technology import and export, foreign investment, and other related laws and regulations.
