EU regulators plan to impose a 100% capital requirement on insurance companies' encryption assets.

According to Gate.io News bot, the Financial Times reported that EU regulators proposed on Thursday to require European insurance companies to allocate 100% of capital for the Crypto Assets they hold. This regulation is the strictest capital control measure ever implemented in the EU regarding digital assets such as Bitcoin, aimed at restricting insurance institutions' participation in the encryption asset sector.

Data shows that the current capital allocation ratio of EU insurance companies to Crypto Assets is between 60% and 80%. As of the end of 2023, the total amount of Crypto Assets held by EU insurance institutions reached 655 million euros, accounting for less than 0.01% of total assets.

The proposal is currently awaiting approval from the European Commission.
