The head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization threatened legal action against the head of the UN nuclear oversight agency.

Gate News bot reports that according to CNN, the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization threatened legal action against the head of the UN nuclear watchdog. In a letter shared by the semi-official Fars News Agency, Mohammad Eslami harshly criticized IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi for his "inaction" during Israel's attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities.

This letter was issued after the overnight attack on Iran's Arak nuclear facility in Israel.

The letter states: "We must fulfill our constitutional duties, immediately cease this inaction, and condemn the actions of the Zionist regime that violate international rules." The letter also indicates that Iran "will take appropriate legal measures, particularly against Your Excellency's inaction."

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency subsequently stated that the agency is continuing to "closely monitor and assess the situation regarding Israel's attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities," and indicated that inspectors will remain in Iran, ready to deploy to the nuclear facilities if necessary.

Grossi added that he is ready to "immediately go and engage with all relevant parties" to help ensure that nuclear facilities are protected and used for peaceful purposes.

He said, "If the International Atomic Energy Agency wants to take action, it must engage in constructive and professional dialogue, and it must do so as soon as possible."

The Iranian Foreign Ministry also criticized the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, accusing him of spreading "misleading statements" about Iran's nuclear program and participating in Israel's military actions. Spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei strongly condemned the International Atomic Energy Agency for announcing on June 12 that Iran had violated its non-proliferation obligations, just hours after Israel attacked Iranian nuclear facilities for the first time. Baqaei stated that the report was "absolutely biased" and used as an "excuse" for Israel's attacks on Iran's "peaceful nuclear facilities."

Grossi denied in an interview with Al Jazeera earlier on Thursday that the International Atomic Energy Agency's investigation had given Israel the green light to attack Iran.
