The U.S. intelligence community warns that Ukraine's "Patriot" air defense system faces new challenges.
Jin10 Data, August 15 - The U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) reports that enhanced Russian ballistic missiles with maneuverable trajectories and decoys are dropping the effectiveness of Ukraine’s “Patriot” air defense system. Russian missiles can now change their trajectory and make maneuver adjustments rather than following a standard ballistic path. Additionally, some missiles are equipped with electronic countermeasures, making it more difficult for the “Patriot” system to track and intercept them, including the Iskander-M and KN-23 missiles, which are the most commonly used missiles by Russia in strikes against Ukraine. On June 28, out of seven missiles launched by Russia, the Ukrainian Armed Forces only shot down one. The largest attack on July 9 included 13 missiles, of which the Ukrainian military only shot down or suppressed seven.
