Shiba Inu Unveils Migration to LEASH V2: Security, Fairness, and Cross-Chain Expansion
The Shiba Inu community just received a major update: the project officially presented its migration plan for LEASH V2, designed to strengthen security, protect long-term holders, and open the door to cross-chain expansion.
How the Migration Will Work Developer Kaal Dhairya emphasized that the transition to LEASH V2 will follow a fixed-ratio model, ensuring that current LEASH V1 holders will not lose value and that the supply will not be diluted. Tokens earmarked for migration are already stored in a multisignature wallet, meaning the system cannot mint new tokens. Any surplus after migration will be burned to reduce overall supply and enhance token scarcity. To maximize security, Shiba Inu hired leading blockchain cybersecurity firm Hexens to audit the V2 contract. The independent audit has been completed, and the report will be released alongside the mainnet launch.
LEASH V2: Minimalist Yet Stronger The new contract is designed as a minimalist ERC-20 token with additional features such as ERC20Permit and ERC20Burnable. This approach simplifies auditing, reduces risk, and makes ongoing maintenance easier. According to Dhairya, the top priority is protecting long-term holders and liquidity providers. Those engaged in staking and liquidity pools will be fairly accounted for through detailed reports, ensuring they are not disadvantaged.
Expanding Beyond Ethereum The developers also confirmed Shiba Inuโs intention to expand beyond Ethereum. Plans include moving into networks such as Base and Solana, with interoperability supported by Chainlinkโs CCIP framework. Still, SHIB will remain natively tied to Ethereum.
Migration in Three Phases The rollout of LEASH V2 will happen in three steps: ๐น Phase 1: Direct migration of individual holders and integration with staking programs (xLEASH, veLEASH, Metaverse Lock). This phase also covers liquidity providers on Uniswap V2 and ShibaSwap V1. ๐น Phase 2: Transition of liquidity providers using Uniswap V3 and ShibaSwap V2, leveraging historical liquidity data and proof-of-withdrawal methods. ๐น Phase 3: Migration for cross-chain users across both L1 and L2 networks, ensuring a precise 1:1 ratio for native tokens.
A New Boost for the Shiba Inu Ecosystem This migration comes at a time when Shibarium, the projectโs Ethereum Layer 2 solution, is reporting rising transaction volumes. A recent upgrade also introduced new tools for validators and developers, further strengthening the ecosystem. Developers are urging holders to remain patient and to rely only on official communication channels. The phased rollout will begin in the coming days, reinforcing trust in the projectโs long-term vision.
๐ LEASH V2 is more than just a technical upgrade โ itโs a key milestone in strengthening Shiba Inuโs global position and expanding its reach across multiple blockchains.
