Just watched Brad Garlinghouse's keynote at XRP Australia in Sydney last month and honestly, the energy around crypto's future is hitting different right now.
He was talking about something that really stuck with me — it's not about one person or one moment flipping the switch for crypto adoption. It's thousands of people globally, each doing their part, gradually building momentum. Brad Garlinghouse called it the "hundred switches, thousand switches" effect. Sounds simple but it's actually profound when you think about it. All these individual advocates, developers, community members scattered across different countries are collectively pushing crypto toward mainstream acceptance.
What got me thinking is how he framed the progress. Yeah, it takes longer than expected sometimes, but the acceleration is real. We're seeing more regulatory clarity conversations, more institutional interest, and honestly more people just... getting it. That's why Garlinghouse expressed so much optimism for 2026 and beyond.
Then there's the regulatory angle which could be a game-changer. JP Morgan's analysts are predicting crypto markets could see meaningful momentum in the second half of 2026, especially if the Clarity Act passes. That act is basically about ending the SEC's "regulation by enforcement" approach and actually giving the industry clear rules. According to JP Morgan, if that happens, it will reshape the market entirely.
Even Patrick Witt from the President's Council of Advisors for Digital Assets chimed in with just one word on that prediction: "Interesting." Which tells you something about how significant this could be.
The whole vibe feels different from a year ago. Less FUD, more actual infrastructure being built. Brad Garlinghouse's point about it being cumulative — a decade of work finally paying off — that tracks with what I'm seeing across the ecosystem right now.
