März, zur lokalen Zeit am 28. gab der Sprecher des zentralen Kommandos der iranischen Streitkräfte, Khatam al-Anbiya, bekannt, dass die iranischen Streitkräfte in der frühen Morgenstunden des gleichen Tages ein dem US-Marine gehörendes Unterstützungsschiff vor der Küste des omanischen Hafens Salalah getroffen haben. Der Sprecher betonte gleichzeitig, dass der Iran die nationale Souveränität Omans voll und ganz respektiert und wies darauf hin, dass der Ort des Angriffs auf das Schiff noch eine beträchtliche Entfernung vom Hafen Salalah hat.
