Abstract generation in progress

Travis Ford, 36 years old, residing in Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for operating a fraudulent crypto investment scheme through the company Wolf Capital, which he co-founded. The scheme operated for 8 months in 2023 and raised 9.4 million USD from 2,800 investors.

Ford pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering and was ordered to forfeit over 1 million USD and pay more than 170,000 USD in restitution. After serving his prison sentence, he will also be subject to 3 years of supervised release.

According to the prosecutor, Ford promised high returns of 1-2% per day, equivalent to about 547% per year, to attract investors. Before collapsing, the company paid approximately 4-5 million USD to investors; the remaining amount was lost in Ford's transactions.

Ford's lawyer stated that he was influenced online by an individual named “0x”, a common nickname in the crypto community. Ford admitted to knowing that the promised profits are not achievable consistently and asserted that he takes full responsibility for the damages caused.
