🔥 Day 8 Hot Topic: XRP ETF Goes Live
REX-Osprey XRP ETF (XRPR) to Launch This Week! XRPR will be the first spot ETF tracking the performance of the world’s third-largest cryptocurrency, XRP, launched by REX-Osprey (also the team behind SSK). According to Bloomberg Senior ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas,
Vitalik announces Ethereum's "three-phase" evolution roadmap: quantum resistance as the ultimate goal, L1 scalability about to explode.
On September 17, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin unveiled a new development roadmap for Ethereum at the developer conference in Japan, outlining a grand vision from short-term scaling to long-term quantum resistance. This ambitious plan not only includes significant upgrades to the L1 layer but also demonstrates how Ethereum can achieve unprecedented scalability and security while maintaining decentralization.
Ethereum short-term goal: Increase L1 Gas limit, expand 10 times
According to the report by crypto KOL AB Kuai.Dong (@_FORAB), Vitalik clearly stated at the meeting that Ethereum's short-term goal is to significantly scale up, which involves increasing the Gas limit of Ethereum L1 while maintaining decentralization. This goal is set to be extremely ambitious: Ethereum aims to achieve a tenfold growth by next year without sacrificing the network's security and level of decentralization.
To achieve this goal, Vitalik proposed a series of technological innovations:
· Block Level Access List
· Zero-Knowledge Proof EVM
· Gas price repricing
· Slot Optimization
Vitalik emphasized that the short-term performance optimization strategy of the Ethereum mainnet strikes a balance between scalability and decentralization. He pointed out that "the mainstream thinking of the 2010s is completely different from that of the 2020s, and he predicts that the 2030s will bring another paradigm shift."
Controversies and Explanations of the Staking Exit Mechanism
Regarding the current discussion on the need to wait about 45 days for ETH unstaking, Vitalik expressed his views on September 18: "Staking means taking on the solemn duty of defending the blockchain. The friction when exiting is part of that. If any proportion of soldiers in an army could suddenly leave at any time, that army would not be able to sustain itself."
He further explained: "This is not to say that the current design of the staking exit queue is the most optimal, but if we simply reduce the relevant parameters, it will make this chain appear less trustworthy to nodes that are not frequently online."
Mid-term Vision: Cross L2 Interoperability and Faster Response Speed
Vitalik stated at the meeting that Ethereum's mid-term goal is to achieve cross-L2 interoperability and significantly enhance network response speed. He reiterated that Layer 2 solutions are the best choice for Ethereum's scalability, not only improving scalability but also making it easier to achieve interoperability across ecosystems.
Key technological breakthroughs for the medium-term goals include:
· Shorten block finalization time
· Optimize network transmission
· Use error correction code
· Improve data transmission and fault tolerance capability
Vitalik predicts that in the coming years, L2 networks will have strong scalability and user experience. This will reduce trust assumptions, allowing more users to use Ethereum in environments that require minimal trust.
Privacy protection has become a key development direction
Ethereum technology will also enhance the privacy of users' on-chain operations. Vitalik stated that Ethereum is actively exploring privacy protection during users' on-chain interactions, including:
· Writing privacy key technology: Using zero-knowledge proofs to protect transaction privacy
· Anonymous Fund Pool or Associated Set
· Cryptographic voting based on minimizing auditability
· Mixed network transmission transactions to obscure the source
· Reading private key technology: Providing a trusted execution environment and random access memory
Long-term Vision: Quantum Resistance and Formal Verification
The long-term vision of Ethereum is to create a secure, simple, quantum-resistant, and formally verified streamlined version of Ethereum. Vitalik stated that in the long run, they hope to enhance the protocol's quantum resistance to address the risks of future quantum computing.
Long-term goals include:
· Formal verification: Ensuring the security of protocols through mathematical methods
· Transition to the ideal cryptographic primitive
· Optimize hashing, signing, zero-knowledge proof and other technologies
Vitalik especially encourages Asian developers and researchers to focus on core technical issues to make Ethereum more efficient, secure, and decentralized. He even pointed out that artificial intelligence can be a powerful tool for learning and getting started, especially in the technology sector.
He also compared the different working styles of developer communities in China and Japan: the Chinese developer community advances quickly, is large in scale, and is usually linked to large projects; whereas Japanese programmers can rapidly adopt new technologies and often experiment with cutting-edge concepts before they become popular globally.
This brand new roadmap showcases Ethereum's ambitions in technical innovation and long-term vision, while also pointing the way for the development of the entire cryptocurrency industry. As these plans are gradually implemented, Ethereum is expected to achieve unprecedented scalability, security, and user experience while maintaining decentralization.
