Calling asset migration an "upgrade in experience" never sits right with me. For people actually doing it, it feels more like moving house — you need to first figure out what you have, decide which route to take, mentally prepare for things to slow down, and stay constantly vigilant against scams.
The series of actions Dusk has taken since the mainnet officially went live gradually made me understand the entire process as an organized and orderly collective migration.
Let me share my own situation. Many people holding DUSK initially didn't own it in native mainnet form — instead it existed as ERC20 or BEP20. These tokens are common on exchanges and in wallets, transfers are convenient, but ultimately they're not the source. To participate in staking, run nodes, or eventually connect to more native ecosystem applications, you can't avoid this migration.
Dusk officially disclosed the complete migration and on-chain process, including explanations of the migration contract and mainnet contract mechanisms. Simply put: users lock their original ERC20 or BEP20 tokens, the system triggers an event that distributes an equivalent amount of native DUSK to your designated mainnet address. One detail here is particularly critical — addresses and private keys. Entering the wrong address isn't just a transaction fee loss, it's a problem with your entire assets. In a sense, the first test of migration is making users more careful about address management.
Recently (May 30, 2025), the official announced the launch of a bidirectional cross-chain bridge, which means liquidity and convenience have reached another level.
